Biography
Bre Valdez is a 25-year-old lyric soprano and young artist based in Vermont. She has attended Westminster Choir College, the Crane School of Music, and Castleton University. Bre is an alumni member of the International Honor Music Fraternity of Sigma Alpha Iota.
Bre has had the privilege of studying under renown performers such as Nova Thomas, Margaret Chalker, and Joshua Collier. Bre has been coached by and participated in masterclasses given by esteemed composers, coaches, and performers such as Carol Vaness, Danielle Orlando, Luis Ladesma, Scilla Cristiano, Michael Ching, Ailyn Perez, Kirsten Arnold, Keith Chambers, Ragnar Conde, Abdiel Vazquez, Jennifer Rowley, Thomas Cooley, Felix Jarrar, Cailin Marcel Manson, and many others.
While studying under Joshua Collier, Bre has performed and understudied in a number of productions with the Barn Opera house in Brandon, Vermont. While performing in the chorus, Bre has covered roles such as Norina in Don Pasquale and Josephine in HMS Pinafore. In 2024 Bre Valdez was elected to serve as Barn Opera and Opera Vermont’s head of marketing on their board of directors. This season, Bre will be returning to the Barn to sing the roles of Magda (La rondine) and Musetta (La bohème) in their upcoming “Puccini-nario” concert series. (www.operavermont.com/puccini)
Bre has participated in a number of young artist programs. In 2020 she was selected to attend the International Opera Festival of Morelia in 2020, studying the role of "La Contessa" (Le nozze di Figaro.) In July 2023, Bre Valdez debuted the role of Musetta in Opera al Mare's summer 2023 production of La Boheme, in Longano, Italy. On January 18th 2024, Bre made her Carnegie Hall debut with Vincerò Academy singing the role of Norina (Don Pasquale.)
In addition to being an accomplished young singer, Bre is also in demand as a voice instructor and coach. From June - August 2024, Bre will be in residency at Belvoir Terrace, serving as a member of their voice faculty. While at Belvoir, Bre has had the pleasure of working alongside Broadway director Stephen Edlund as the music director of their 2024 summer production of Cats. (www.belvoirterrace.com)
